Issue: Complaints from both staff and guests have been sent to us regarding Spamming activities in Midnight Reflections.

Policy: Spamming of any sort is prohibited at MR. If we catch you, and we will… No questions asked… You’ll be banned from the region for 90-days. It’s really that simple.

================================================== =======

In greater detail if you care to read:

As expected, when an entity, such as Midnight Reflections achieves consistently heavy traffic flow, there are always a few who view this as opportunity to promote their own products or services. The very essence of Spam is to “piggyback” on someone else’s resources, while paying nothing and working little for your gains. This is why Spam is an attractive option to many, who lack the wherewithal or sophistication necessary to first develop a successful product, and then market it.

Spammers in general will utilize a host of rationalizations to justify their poor conduct, in addition to continuously seeking more subtle approaches to leverage the success of an entity, such as Midnight Reflections to bolster their products or groups. Make no mistake… Spammers know full well what they’re doing is wrong, despite the 101 arguments they pose to the contrary. Part of being a Spammer, is to always have a bag weak justifications /excuses at your disposal.

The most common ones are as follows:

I didn’t know that was wrong

LOL… You didn’t know that using someone’s private sim -- the one they pay well over $300.00 a month for is not a medium to peddle your products or groups? Sighsss… Go smoke another Bong.

Per the 1st amendment, I am exercising my freedom of speech

Another all time Spambo favorite. One thing that appears to be common amongst the majority of Spammers, is that they’re not well read people. That is, they love to play the 1st amendment card, but if quizzed… Would not so much as be able to provide a basic, or summarized definition of it. If you’re going to argue this one, then you need to fully understand its broader level context, and if not… You look like a real putz, and as the case with most Spambo’s who do much talking, but little reading.

Contrary to popular belief, "Spam is not protected by national Free Speech laws. And because… Free speech guarantees you the right to say what you want (within reason), it does not guarantee you a platform to make yourself heard in."!!!!!

If this were NOT the case, you could prance into Starbucks…. Wander up to every table… And hand out gift certificates for a free coffee and donut at Dunkin Donuts.

You could even walk into a packed movie theater and yell FIRE!!! Hey… I’m exercising my freedom of speech, right? Wrong…

In both above cases, you’d likely be hauled off and charged with creating a public disturbance.

This is a public venue, so I’m entitled to Spam.

First of all, the 1st amendment does not guarantee you a platform to make yourself heard in, even in public!! And two… Midnight Reflections is NOT public… It’s a private entity. It’s existence, tier fees, and operational costs are paid for through private funds.. NOT public ones! And as the case with any private venue, including your home…. You’re entitled to dictate policy!

Spam is not really hurting anyone, so why not just let them Spam?

Left unmanaged, Midnight Reflections would quickly become a Spam friendly medium. The product we offer would be washed away, in return for unrelenting Spamvertising to guests in im, public chat, and note cards. In essence… We’d shell out hundreds of dollars a month, so that Spammers could use what is advertised as an "Entertainment Venue" to further their own personal agendas. Yeah.. Right…

I think this is unfair!!!!

Let’s put the civil perspective a side for a moment. You are in our PRIVATE HOUSE…. When you Spam, it’s a willful and blatant act of disrespect for both the management and owners of Midnight Reflections. It is no different that one of us arriving at your private house party… Then quietly asking your guests to climb into the awaiting bus outside, which will take them to our party. This behavior would constitute sleazy and shameless to say the very least. Then again… Spammers have demonstrated time and time again, that they seem to have little shame.

Bottom line. Please don’t Spam, or if you must, then do so elsewhere. Remember that it is NOT a right, but a privilege to be a guest on our sim. As with any other venue operator, we reserve the right to revoke that privilege at any time!
